Annoyance festers in Asami’s fingers, methodically tearing the ticket to the nosebleed seats into small pebbles of paper. Her chest barely tightens as the Catgators sweep into Mooselion territory, watching the lone earthbender dressed in blue balance on the edge of the ring. The earthbender is forced into the drink and the crowd, washed in knockout neon red, flies to their feet and drowns Asami in a sea of clapping hands.
At her side, Mako tips his chin up to search for the ring in the gaps between the people surrounding them, refusing to uncross his arms and join in their cheering. Asami can’t even tell what side he’s rooting for, and she fumbles with the ticket as she tries to rip it again.
She invited him to the pro-bending match with the idea that it would clear the air of any lingering discomfort. Now she wonders if he would be having more fun if she were Bolin or Korra; probably echoes in her mind as the tide of the crowd sinks to their seats.
They can be friends. She’s sure of it.

A few days ago at school I was using the restroom when a few guys came into the restroom arguing loudly in Spanish. I stayed quiet and was going to come out of the stall when they left, but they all stopped yelling at once and knocked on my stall door, speaking Spanish. I said ‘sí’ and they all cheered, I dunno but I think I joined a gang
I am uncultured swine, but is this image a reference to anything?
It looks strikingly similar to a plate from the Rosarium Philosophorum;
What this plate is depicting is Conjuction, one the many stages of the Magnum Opus.
The animators picked something interesting with that particular imagery:
After conjunction, the adept is able to discern what needs to be done to achieve lasting enlightenment which is union with the Divine.
Also:The initiate has achieved a state of inner equilibrium, is conscious of the opposing principles within himself, and is able to balance and reconcile them. This development in consciousness is symbolized by the crowns on the couple’s heads. The initiate has attained a degree of power, but the immortality of true enlightenment has yet to be won.
One could spend days on the imagery of a single panel; after all this is the chemical wedding of sulpher and mecury. Most curious is the absence of the dove connecting the two - given that in alchemy, it is all about trinity. God the Father, God the Mother, and God the Soul - and the soul is curiously absent from the connection herein. I have to wonder if that was intentional on the part of the animators.
The dove is still there in the panel, but its own branch has not yet made the connection which would allow for the completion of the image and moving on to the next stage of the Great Work; putrefaction.
Putrefaction is also analogous with the nigredo stage of the Philosopher’s Stone, so take that as you will.
